A rural house under the cliffs of the Cumbre de Montagut
This environment is a rural and wooded area, with a rich biodiversity and spectacular landscapes The Mediterranean forest is dominant in the area, with species such as pine and holm oak. There are also typically Mediterranean growing areas, especially almond trees, olive trees and vineyard.
As for the fauna, the area is inhabited by various species, such as birds of prey like Bonelli’s eagle and vulture, mammals such as wild boar and deer, and amphibians such as frogs and toads.
From the Mas you can easily reach, if you like to walk, and equidistantly to the following locations:
El Pont d’Armentera
It is the closest town to Mas Carpi . It is less than 10 minutes by car from our house and you can find some services such as abakery , supermarket, restaurant, doctor’s office and pharmacy.
In Pont d’Armentera you can visit the Church with its baroque altarpiece, as well as stroll along the riverbed of the Gaià river enjoying its pools.
Royal Monastery of SantesCreus
A few km away there is the small town and the Monastery of SantesCreus , a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A truly special place, full of peace, where you can visit the Cistercian Monastery, Plaza San Bernat , the Alameda and enjoy the culinary offer of the town.
Founded in 1158, it is an exceptional example of Catalan Gothic architecture and one of the best examples of Cistercian art in Europe.
Montagut Summit
The Montagut summit is a mountain that is part of the Pre-coastal Cordillera Catalan . The Riscales de la Cumbre de Montagut are the rocky walls that surround the mountain and, in this case, form a kind of natural amphitheatre.
A spectacular landscape to enjoy the native fauna and vegetation.
Route of the dry stone huts
Between El Pont d’Armentera and El Pla de Santa Maria is the Ruta de las barracas de Piedra Seca, where you will find the so characteristic of the dry plains thousand-year-old constructions so and a World Heritage Site. Flat circuit suitable for any age.
Gaià River Valley
Another recommended place is the valley of the River Gaià . Some of its characteristic villages are Querol and Santa Perpetua, where you can visit their castles.
